Rainbow Falls

The Rainbow Falls is a spectacular waterfalls located in Hilo, Hawaii. This 80 ft tall waterfall on the Wailiku River flows over a natural lava cave, the mythological home to Hina, an ancient Hawaiian goddess. Rainbow Falls derives its name from the fact that, on sunny mornings, one can see rainbows in the mist thrown up by the waterfall.

Akaka Falls is part of the Akaka Falls State Park on Hawaii Island. It is 422 feet in height. Akaka Falls is located on Kolekole Stream. A large stone in the stream about 70 feet upstream of the falls is called Pohaku o Kaloa.

Opaeka’a Falls

The magnificent-looking 'Opaeka'a Falls on the Wailua River is located near Wailua Falls and is part of the Wailua River State Park. It is almost as twice higher than Wailua Falls with a height of 151 ft. The name "Opaeka'a" means rolling shrimp, "opae" being Hawaiian for "shrimp," and "ka'a" for "rolling".

Makahiku Falls

Another beautiful waterfall to behold is the Makahiku Falls. This horsetail waterfall is 200 ft high and is located in Haleakala national Park. It runs on the Ohe'o Gulch stream.

Hilawe Waterfall

Hiilawe Waterfall is one of the tallest and most powerful waterfalls in Hawaii. It is located on the Big Island and its total height is about 1,450 feet. The falls drop into the Waipio Valley on Lalakea Stream.
